Alisha’s Light – Forever 57 takes the audience on a journey through Alisha’s first year of living authentically. Find out how a cheeky decision to seek a little bit of happiness on the eve of her 57th birthday snowballed into a personal transformation. She morphed from a reserved writer who feared rejection into a vibrant performer eager to have her musings instantly judged at poetry slams. Using spoken word poetry and theatrical storytelling and reenacting pivotal conversations with her spouse and mother, Alisha urges each audience member to question: What small change can help me find my best self?

Alicia Richards gives us a glimpse of what joy choosing yourself in midlife can bring. I was moved by her performance – the poetry was clever, funny and heartbreaking in equal measure. A fringe delight! Go see it – one more show tomorrow at 3.
Alisha… you show us that transformation can be joy… and given that we as a species have to transform to save ourselves, your path sheds light on how enormous change can happen joyfully!!! thank you for the inspiration.
This was a thoroughly inspiring and provocative experience that invited us to consider what of ourselves we show, what we hide, and how we truly want to show up in the world. Phenomenal.
Alisha. Wow. What can I say. I cried tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of anger, tears of pain.. thank you for sharing your story with us, (and for the excellent hug). I cannot recommend this show more. It doesn’t matter what changes you’ve been through in your life, there will be something for you jere.
Inspiring, touching and genuine.
Alisha’s unfettered JOY at becoming her true self shines in her heart-connecting poetry and lights up her eyes! She shares the good, the bad and the ugly; we cheer her on every step of the way. A loving reminder that it is never too late to become who you truly are. 💕
Be the very best ‘you’ you can be, Alisha! Keep on shining your light for the rest of us in this dark and chaotic world. Your bravery and vulnerability are an example for us all. We should emulate this in our own lives as best wevam🥰
Vulnerable and powerful, Alisha shares her true honest self and embodies trans joy throughout! Told primarily through poetry, this is a touching journey to becoming her best self, and we are lucky to join her for the ride.
This show far exceeded my expectations. It was SO moving, so honest and so brave. EVERYONE should see this!
A very beautiful, moving story/poem that made me laugh and cry and kept me captivated for the whole time. Lovely. Thank you so much Alisha for inspiring us all to find the joy of our authentic selves regardless of gender.
As a recently transitioned woman at 61, Alisha delivered on the real experiences in the wonder, joy and the sadness of coming out later in life. It’s a complicated experience to transition, and her honestly, directness and bravery to put this show together. I laughed, cried, and nodded in “yes” over and over. What really resonated with me was that her transition brought her such joy, the quest for self expression, that can tear couples/families apart, even if out of love. Since transitioning (last year), I too have never felt such joy and acceptance, from places you would never have guessed, and more. A 5 pack of underwear can start a journey of epic wonder and discovery. Love to read more of your poetry. I would be fascinated to learn more about your ethnographic observations. Big hugs from Victoria (like a mini SF), you have friends here too.
