How bawdy is Shakespeare? Deeply bawdy! In this comic farce and timely satire, an esteemed scholar takes us through a quick sampling of the naughtiest of the Bard’s bits, staged for your edification, titillation, and distemper by THE PLAYERS. To wit, the CLOWN in Othello: “Why, masters, have your wind instruments been in Naples, that they speak i’th’ nose thus?”
What does all this dense dialog mean? Is it just some harmless crack from a funny clown? Nope, in Shakespeare, it’s a pervy clown mocking what happens to men gone a-whoring: they lose their noses to syphilis! Who knew?
And wait…who’s this stumbling upon the show? It’s a smug Governor, a drag-obsessed Congressman, and a perfect mom fighting for the freedom to ban books. How will they handle all this terrible Elizabethan smut on stage? NAUGHTY BITS will leave you laughing – or aghast — at the risqué, the ridiculous, and all the secret bits tucked deep underneath.
