Empty Pocket

Down the Rabbit Hole is a whimsical and humorous dance twist on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland following The White Rabbit as his life gets turned upside down after meeting that curious little girl named Alice.
It has the unique distinction of being told exclusively through movement; dance, facial expressions, gestures, pantomime, etc. In this original story, we encounter 5 of our beloved Wonderlandians and joyfully revel in their madness.

Thank you for joining me on this journey down my entrepreneurial rabbit hole with this, the first of many to come, Empty Pocket productions.
Life certainly knows how to gut punch an aspiring artist. The desire to break into producing theatrical offerings started at The University of Southern Maine with the creation of a musical theatre student group I called MTPlayers.
After graduation, that desire stayed just out of reach for reasons we all experience; a notable lack of resources and just trying to get by. Time doesn’t care, it just keeps on marching along.
I stayed involved with theatre as the years passed, primarily in Vivid Motion productions (amateur dance company in Portland, Maine), which provided wonderful opportunities for a creative outlet, but eventually my creative concepts came faster than the shows gave way.
In 2019, I produced my own show with a beg, borrow, and steal mentality on a shoestring budget. After gathering all the necessary pieces, just 2 days before the first rehearsal, Pocket, my beloved five pound Yorkie, was fatally hit by a car.
Managing that heartache, I pulled through the production with reasonable success, intending to be my kick-off for a new life.
Then 2020.
Once the world started opening up again, I launched a fringe project idea that had been brewing for a few years and brought that show to a handful of Midwest fringe festivals.
The experience of touring the fringe circuit was so uniquely fascinating that I was hooked. I wanted to create more shows specifically for a fringe audience and wanted to travel to all of them around the United States, heck, Canada, perhaps even the UK! Here I am, going at it once again, and because I’d rather turn hard times into art than let the hard times get the better of me, Empty Pocket was born, my place to pour all my creative energy.
Empty Pocket is a love letter reminding me to find joy in life, find beauty in tragedy, and find respect for humanity.
Your presence is part of my joy, my beauty and my humanity. It’s your experiences which give meaning to my art and reminds me that I am not alone. With as much appreciation as can be written on a page, your engagement is graciously welcomed.
